Quilla Books, an imprint of TCK Publishing, takes pride in publishing exciting and memorable upmarket fiction of all genres—from thriller to romance to memoir, and everything in between. We select each title with thoughtful consideration to create a fiction catalog featuring books that spark a conversation.
Upmarket fiction is the unique blend of literary and commercial fiction, with writing that is sophisticated yet accessible to a wide array of readers. Upmarket books address elevated and contemporary themes while remaining stylistically accessible to all readers.
In short, we are looking for page-turning, mainstream fiction that showcases complex character development and a distinctive author’s voice. We want stories within any given genre that utilize tropes that work, while also seeking to redefine or add something new to the genre.
Quilla Books was founded on the idea that any writer who has taken the time and effort to craft a 50,000+ word novel deserves a chance for potential publication. That’s why we welcome unsolicited manuscripts from authors on our submissions page. Whether you’re a new author, a previously self-published author, or an author with a literary agent, we want to see what you’ve got. While we can’t publish every submission, we are firm believers in respect and communication, and that’s why we respond to every submission we receive.
When a manuscript is selected, we work closely with the author to turn a great story into a memorable and marketable book. This involves a comprehensive 3-step editing process which includes a developmental edit, a line-by-line copy edit, and a final proofread. We then work with the author on cover design, marketing, and assist in building dedicated readership for the author’s future works.
We happily accept unsolicited manuscript submissions, as well as manuscripts submitted by literary agents.
