As a blog writer for TCK Publishing, Kaelyn loves crafting fun and helpful content for writers, readers, and creative minds alike. She has a degree in International Affairs with a minor in Italian Studies, but her true passion has always been writing. Working remotely allows her to do even more of the things she loves, like traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Y’know, one of the first sections I’d turn to if I got a hold of a Reader’s Digest was the “Drama in Real Life,” and most of my writing for the past few years has been directed at it’s book-length equivalent, yet these kinds of books rarely appear in any list of genres recommended for readers or advised for writers. Some of it shows up in “history,” but there’s a lot that isn’t counted as old enough to be “history” and can’t go under “memoir” because the author didn’t live it.
Hi Wendy! Yeah, that’s a tough one to categorize. I would say it might fall under creative nonfiction sometimes? It’s not the easiest writing to market, but I would think it might grow in popularity, given everyone’s obsession with true crime and reality TV.
Many excellent books and terrific writers on the market. Out of so many writers, I focus on TWO: C. J. Box and James Lee Burke. Having read all of their books, I cannot judge one weaker or stronger than the other. “In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead” by Mr. Burke is my favorite.
Hi Barry, thanks for sharing your favorite authors! Great picks :)

I want to recommend a book I wrote and published and produced mp3s of the songs: RAP-NOTES: SHAKESPEARE’S GREATEST HITS.
I wrote Rap-Notes: Hamlet for my high school students in the Bronx. When that turned out to be really well received, I wrote Rap-Notes: Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and King Lear.
