Everybody wants to experience love—and so romance never fades as a literary genre. Reading about people who find their happy endings just warms the hearts of every reader.
And sometimes you just can’t get enough of their stories, so you constantly look for more. Luckily, many romance writers have written whole series that maintain the same tone and style that you’ve fallen in love with.
Best Romance Book Series
Some romance book series follow the adventures of a particular couple through multiple books. Others are a collection of love stories that are loosely related by certain elements.
Here are some of the best romance book series you can read. Some of these are your typical romance stories, while others are an exploration of the nature of love.
1. Bridgertons by Julia Quinn
Simon Basset—highly sought bachelor—is tired of every society mother hounding him into a relationship. As for Daphne Bridgerton, there seems to be a drought of worthy suitors willing to pursue her.
And so the two enact a ruse of seeing one another. But the more they spend time together, the harder it is to remember that their courtship is a sham.
2. Knitting in the City by Penny Reid
Janie Morries is having the worst time of her life. Within hours of each other, she’s broken up with her boyfriend, lost her apartment, and got laid off from her job.
Worse, Quinn Sullivan—aka Sir McHotpants—was there to see it all. And they just can’t seem to stop running into one another. Everything is awkward as hell until Quinn makes a surprising offer she can’t refuse.
3. The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
Alexa Monroe doesn’t do spontaneous. But then she finds herself agreeing to a wedding date with Drew Nichols—someone she’s never even met!
As for Drew, going to his ex’s wedding without a plus one is a no-no. Fortunately, a power outage gets him stranded with the best fake girlfriend he’ll ever get. To their surprise, a night of enjoyment has them wondering if maybe there’s something more to explore.
4. Anyone But Series by Penelope Bloom
Seven years ago, Kira Summerland and her bestfriends made a pact to never date any of the King brothers. Even if they get rich or famous. Even if they come begging.
And then the Kings come back to town, opening their company headquarters nearby. Now it’s hard to not run into them, and equally hard not to fall in love with them again.
5. The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
Kristen Peterson has a secret. To continue a healthy life, she’ll need to undergo a medical procedure that will make it impossible for her to have kids. It’s one of the reasons why she’s currently not in a relationship.
So meeting Josh Copeland is bitter-sweet. He’s funny, sexy, understanding—and absolutely wants a family someday. She knows he’s better off with someone else, but it’s getting harder and harder to stop herself from falling in love any deeper.
6. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
To Stella Lane, math is an absolute truth of the world. But while it’s done her well financially, the other parts of her life have been left behind. Add in her Asperger’s and she’s not exactly well-reversed in romance.
Needing practice, she hires the stunning Michael Phan to help her out. Before long, their no-nonsense relationship begins to evolve into something much, much more.
7. The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams
Baseball star Gavin Scott might be winning it on the field but he’s absolutely wrecked it at home. And when a big revelation finally gets his strained marriage collapsing, he realizes just how much he’s blown it.
Desperate for help, he reaches out to his alpha buddies who—unbeknownst to him—run a secret romance book club. Given a historical romance book as a guide, he must learn how to be a better partner in order to win his wife back.
8. Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur
Desperate to fend off her well-meaning brother, Darcy Lowell fibs about her recent blind date’s success. She didn’t expect it to swiftly bite her in the ass though. When introduced to her brother’s new business partner, she’s surprised to find her date in front of her.
Fortunately, Elle Jones agrees to play along, with a few rules of her own. But love has a way around rules, and soon they’ll find themselves confronting very real feelings.
9. Happy Endings by Zoey Castile
Late for work with no sleep, Robyn Flores goes to the cleaners before heading home. Looking inside her laundry bag, the clothes within are definitely not hers. So when the gorgeous Zac Fallon comes knocking for his clothes, she’s not entirely surprised.
More surprisingly, the next time she sees him is front and center in her bestfriend’s bachelorette party, stripping for all to see. There’s an attraction brewing between the two but sometimes life can get in the way in unexpected ways.
10. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
It’s 1945 and Claire Frasier has just gone back home after serving as a combat nurse in the war. While honeymooning in Scotland, she walks through a standing circle of stones and finds herself transported back in time.
Catapulted to 1743’s Scotland, Claire is suddenly surrounded by warring clans. Her only safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a young warrior who catches her attention. Now she’s torn between two men from very different times.
Reading Romance Books
Admittedly, there’s a lot of wish fulfillment when it comes to reading (and writing) romance. It’s why the majority of romantic stories end in happy endings. There’s no shame in it though. Who doesn’t want to experience a happy ending, even if it’s only from the pages of a book?
In the busy lives that people lead, sometimes there are emotions and activities that you want to experience but can’t. Your passions, romantic desires, and sexual fantasies are fulfilled, even if only temporarily, by reading romance.
More than that, romantic stories are usually light on the brain and easy to read. For anyone who only wants to sit back and relax, romance is the perfect genre to read.
